I stopped here for Sunday lunch during the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and sat at the counter. Both ladies working were so, so kind (epitome of Southern hospitality), the food was delicious, and it was great to see all the regulars come in after church; they knew both ladies & vice versa. Such a great vibe, I highly recommend anyone stop by for breakfast or lunch when they’re in this part of North Carolina.
This was a nice find. We was on the way to Bristol to watch the race. We seen this place and decided to stop. I am so glad we did it was a truly good place to eat. The burgers were so good. The staff was fun to talk to and real friendly. The prices were good as well. I will make the drive just to eat here again.
I had the opportunity to dine here twice and I want to tell you that this place is incredible and it is definitely five star. This service the food the owner, the employees everything is top-notch and I recommend that people dying here. I have been here for breakfast and I have been here for lunch and my experience was excellent. I hate calling myself a foodie, but I am a foodie. I grew up in San Francisco in LA and I’ll tell you this is the place to go to and I will be back again to try their food and other things on the menu again the service is excellent. The owners are excellent. Please come here. It is great.
We are so glad Waightstill’s took over the vacant spot, we were worried Cranberry st Cafe would go vacant or be bought out by a sub-par establishment, but Waightstill’s is quite the opposite. Today was their second(?) day in operation, and for such a new business, our sandwiches were absolutely delicious, were quite impressed. The beef in the burger was great quality and likely locally raised beef, the hot chicken was juicy and delicious. We got a side of pimento cheese as well to see how it is, it’s tasty and definitely homemade, not just some store bought stuff. The prices are very reasonable, we’re both filled up for less than $20 total. Overall very excited to try more of their menu. We absolutely recommend you go visit them if you’re in Newland or nearby, it’s refreshing to have great restaurants like them open up in town 👍👍
I order the hash brown bowl and a side of cheddar cheese grits and I was pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered a traditional breakfast. Friendly service.
This is my first time up in this area. I have to say the people who work in here are so nice welcoming they had my order out in timely matter. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and I thought it tasted excellent! My husband got a hamburger and he said it was delicious. We will be back!
We enjoyed our lunch. Clean and tidy restaurant, friendly staff, incredible burgers. My husband has talked about this place several times to our friends and he never does this.
Food was very good, homemade; and reasonably priced. Owner was very sweet and introduced herself to me and asked how my breakfast was etc. My friend was craving liver mush and said it was very good! Will be back.
